Website 2.0 FAQ
From ZebraDots Support
[edit] Overview
This document contains some of the more common questions that users have regarding the Website 2.0 software or hosting service.
[edit] Cannot log in to Main Menu with correct password
Your website space may be full. Try deleting extra emails, or remove large images using the File Explorer, and then try again. You may need to upgrade plans if you need large amounts of space. Remember that most images used on the web don't need to be very big at all, only about 640×480 (about 75kb) is usually large enough for product pictures. Digital camera pictures are usually much too large − up to 1MB!
[edit] Emails submitted by the form are jumbled together on one line
This process deals with extremely important files, so be very careful following these steps. If any of the files are moved or renamed, your site will not function properly.
- Download http://zebradots.com/media/downloads/email_fix.zip
- Unzip the archive and extract the only file, which is named class.wb.php
- Log in to your Main Menu and click File Explorer
- In the left pane, click "framework" to navigate to the "/framework" folder
- Click File > Upload
- Click Browse and select the file class.wb.php
- Click Save (or Exit, which will save and then close the window)
From this point forward, the emails should be formatted in a more user-friendly way, with one field per line.
[edit] Images placed on my pages appear as a red "X"
- Download the latest web update and apply it first
- From the Main Menu, click Edit Website
- Visit the Settings tab
- At the bottom, check the Server Operating System and set it to Linux if your server runs Linux (as with ZebraDots Hosting), or Windows if your ISP runs Windows; ask them if you're not sure
- If you are using Linux, check the "World-writable" box to ensure that the permissions are not restricted in any way
- Save your changes
- RE-UPLOAD a test image
- Place the image in your page
- If the image does not appear, right-click it and select "View Image" to see the error message
- If the error is "Forbidden" or "Permission Denied", contact your ISP
Also be sure that the images you are uploading are SMALL. Images usually don't need to be any more than 640×480, or about 75kb at most for web viewing. Digital pictures from a camera are often much too large for use on a website.
[edit] When I upload product images, they aren't visible
Please be sure that you have upgraded to the latest version of the system. This was corrected in the v2.04 release.
[edit] My new website says "Invalid Serial Number" in the bottom right corner
Your serial number is valid; you need to apply the PC Software Update from our downloads page, and then re-run the website setup tool from the Start Menu to create and upload your website again.
[edit] The home page link doesn't work
Please be sure that you have upgraded to the latest version of the system. This was corrected in the v2.05 release.
[edit] Weight-based shipping is calculated wrong
Please be sure that you have upgraded to the latest version of the system. This was corrected in the v2.05 release.
